UMI Resort has marked its official opening in Uluwatu, with all 91 suites now available for booking, adding an Australian-owned resort to the accommodation market on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula.

The opening announcement, reported by Karryon and Global Travel Media this week, places the property firmly in the family and leisure market. Founded by Australian entrepreneur Danil Flehan, UMI combines suite accommodation with poolside dining, wellness facilities and services for guests travelling with children.

A full-suite opening in Uluwatu

The latest announcement covers the resort’s full suite inventory, ranging from Deluxe Suites to larger Family Suites. Accommodation is arranged around landscaped gardens and pools rather than a conventional enclosed hotel corridor.

The resort gives its address as Jalan Pantai Padang-Padang in Pecatu and places itself approximately 200 metres from Uluwatu and Suluban beaches. That location connects the property with the southern peninsula’s established surf, dining and leisure circuit.

Design built around the pool experience

According to the opening announcement, the architecture takes cues from the limestone cliffs and sea caves near Suluban Beach. Curved buildings and open-air areas frame three-tier cascading infinity pools, making the shared outdoor spaces central to the resort’s identity.

The development also highlights reclaimed Indonesian teak. Custom interiors and furniture were produced with Wright Super Yacht Teak, using recycled marine-grade timber.

UMI’s own description of its accommodation emphasises pool views. Its published Deluxe Suite specification lists a 30-square-metre room with a king bed, sofa bed and private balcony, indicating how the smaller room category accommodates both couples and families.

Wellness and family services share the brief

The resort lists a spa, hot and cold plunge pools, a children’s club and nanny services among its facilities. Dining includes a restaurant and bar, with the official FAQ describing round-the-clock service. The opening announcement also identifies 24-hour in-room dining.

The combination broadens the property’s potential audience beyond a couples-only retreat. Family accommodation and childcare can sit alongside spa treatments and quieter pool time, allowing different members of a travelling group to use the resort in different ways.

For hospitality operators, that mix also creates a practical service requirement: family activities, wellness appointments and food and beverage operations need to work together throughout a guest’s stay. The commercial proposition depends on delivering those elements consistently, not simply listing them as amenities.

Another distinct product for Bali’s leisure market

UMI enters the market with a relatively focused identity: suites, landscaped pools and a coastal location supported by family and wellness services. Its full opening gives travel advisers a clearer inventory to sell, while the operating challenge is to turn that collection of facilities into a coherent resort experience.
