Anders Dimblad has returned as general manager of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur and Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur Managed by Banyan Tree, taking responsibility for two hotels whose openings he previously led.

The appointment was reported by Hospitality Net on 26 August 2026 and confirmed in a welcome announcement from Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Neither source specifies a separate effective date.

Anders Dimblad resumes a two-hotel remit

Dimblad will lead the teams at both properties. According to the appointment report, the priorities include business performance, development of the luxury offering and maintaining the service standards associated with Banyan Group.

In its own announcement, Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur emphasised his involvement in the hotels’ original openings and market positioning. That history gives the appointment a clear continuity element: the returning leader already has experience of the properties and the city, rather than arriving without an established connection to either operation.

A career spanning regional operations and openings

Dimblad has more than 25 years of international luxury hospitality experience. Hospitality Net reports that he joined Banyan Group in 2003 and has worked across Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean, with experience spanning individual hotels and multi-property portfolios.

Immediately before returning to Kuala Lumpur, he held the position of director, hotel openings and operations for Southeast Asia. That role combined work on regional operations with the preparation and development of hotels.

The move therefore brings a regional perspective back into a property leadership position. His previous involvement with the two Kuala Lumpur hotels is the most directly relevant part of that background.

Two different hotel operations in one city

The official Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur website lists 55 rooms and suites. Located on Jalan Conlay in the Golden Triangle, the hotel combines accommodation with rooftop dining and drinking, a spa and other leisure facilities.

Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur is considerably larger, with 325 rooms and suites in Bukit Bintang. Its official website lists meeting and event facilities, restaurant dining, a club lounge, an infinity pool and wedding facilities.

The contrast in scale matters to the role. Shared leadership covers two distinct hotel operations, not identical properties, while both sit within central Kuala Lumpur’s business, shopping and leisure districts.

Continuity at property level

For hotel teams, a returning general manager offers familiarity with the operation’s history alongside experience gained elsewhere in the group. That is the principal leadership significance supported by this appointment; the public announcements do not set out financial targets, staffing changes or a new investment programme.
