Rosewood Schloss Fuschl has received luxury hideaway recognition from Die 101 besten Hotels, adding a category distinction to the Austrian lakeside resort’s record since its reopening in July 2024.

The hotel announced the honour through its official social channel. The organiser’s Austria and South Tyrol special-editions page identifies Rosewood Schloss Fuschl as its 101 Luxury Hideaway of the Year. This is a category award, not the overall hotel-of-the-year title.

Rosewood Schloss Fuschl’s lakeside setting

The resort occupies a historic castle estate beside Lake Fuschl, close to Salzburg. Its origins date to 1461, when the building served as a hunting lodge for Salzburg’s prince-archbishops. The property began operating as a hotel in 1947.

Rosewood reopened the resort on 1 July 2024 after a restoration and redesign. The opening created the group’s second Austrian property, following Rosewood Vienna in 2022, and established a different setting from the company’s city hotel.

The accommodation comprises 98 rooms, including 42 suites and six chalets. The mix places conventional guestrooms alongside larger private accommodation, giving the property several ways to serve guests seeking a lakeside stay.

Design and the guest experience

The redevelopment involved several design teams. G.A Group worked on guestrooms, public spaces and the spa; Bauer Stahl developed heritage suites and chalets; and DiPPOLD contributed to the dining spaces.

Rather than treating the castle solely as a heritage landmark, the resort combines its historic setting with contemporary hospitality facilities. Regional experiences described by Rosewood include guided fishing, foraging, cooking and encounters with local crafts.

In announcing the award, the hotel highlighted its lakeside setting and thanked the team behind its guest experience.

An all-season resort proposition

Wellness is a significant part of the property’s offer. The Asaya spa includes indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, a steam bath and eight treatment rooms. These facilities complement the estate’s lake access and the surrounding alpine landscape.

Pre-opening information from the Salzburg tourism authority described an all-season approach, connecting the hotel with regional culture as well as outdoor activity. That provides context for the hideaway positioning: the resort is intended to offer more than a single summer-season experience.

The distinction adds to the profile of an Austrian hospitality landmark now in its third year under the Rosewood brand.
