Le Méridien Kochi has appointed Ajeesh R as Assistant Director of Human Resources, strengthening the hotel’s people leadership function as the property continues to serve one of Kerala’s most important hospitality and events markets.
In his new role, Ajeesh will support the hotel’s human resources function across talent management, employee engagement, learning and development, compliance and people strategy. He will work closely with the hotel’s leadership team to strengthen associate engagement, support talent development and reinforce a people-first culture at the property.
Ajeesh brings more than 15 years of hospitality human resources experience across leading hotel brands. His areas of expertise include talent acquisition, employee engagement, organisational development, industrial relations, statutory compliance, learning and development, and HR operations.
Prior to joining Le Méridien Kochi, he served as Multi-Property Assistant Director of Human Resources for Courtyard by Marriott Kochi Airport and Port Muziris, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Kochi. In that role, he led human resources operations across both properties, giving him exposure to multi-property workforce planning, employee engagement and compliance requirements within Marriott International’s operating framework.
Earlier, Ajeesh served as Multi-Property Human Resources Manager, overseeing HR functions, engagement initiatives, compliance and workforce planning across the two Marriott hotels. The multi-property experience is particularly relevant to his new role, as it requires the ability to manage people priorities across different teams, operating rhythms and service expectations while maintaining consistency in HR delivery.
Before rejoining Marriott International, Ajeesh was Human Resources Manager at Hyatt Regency Kochi Malayattoor, where he was part of the hotel’s pre-opening team. Pre-opening experience is valuable in hospitality HR because it involves building teams, setting up processes, supporting recruitment, preparing training systems and helping create the cultural foundation of a property before the first guest arrives.
He also supported human resources operations at Hyatt Centric Janakpuri, New Delhi, adding experience in a different market and brand environment. His career further includes leadership roles with CGH Earth, where he served as Human Resources Manager at Marari Beach Resort and Assistant Manager, Human Resources at Coconut Lagoon, Kumarakom. In those roles, he handled HR operations, industrial relations and statutory compliance in resort-led environments.
Ajeesh’s earlier career includes experience with The Leela Palaces & Resorts, Kovalam, Muthoot Pappachan Group and industrial training at Ramada Hotel and Caravela Beach Resort, Goa. This gives him a broad hospitality foundation across luxury, resort, business and regional hotel environments.
The appointment is significant because human resources leadership is becoming increasingly central to hotel performance. For properties operating in competitive markets, HR is no longer limited to recruitment and administration. It influences service culture, retention, team capability, compliance discipline, leadership development and the consistency of guest experience.
That is especially relevant for Le Méridien Kochi. The hotel is set across 18 acres of greenery along Kerala’s backwaters and is positioned near Ernakulam and Kochi city centre, with access to Fort Kochi, Cherai Beach, Kumarakom and Cochin International Airport. In such an environment, people strategy has to support several operating needs at once.
