Mitali Maheshwari promoted to director of product and marketing at Tata Starbucks
The former Red Bull marketer moves up at Tata Starbucks, with a focus on products for diverse Indian consumers, brand storytelling and customer experience.

Mitali Maheshwari has been promoted to director of product and marketing at Tata Starbucks, moving up from the head of product and marketing position she has held since April 2024. She confirmed the promotion in a LinkedIn announcement, outlining an approach centred on products for India’s diverse consumers, authentic storytelling and customer experiences.
The appointment took effect in October 2026, according to Indian Television’s report. It represents an internal progression within the coffee retailer’s combined product and marketing function.
Mitali Maheshwari on products and customer experience
In her announcement, Maheshwari linked her association with Starbucks to her interest in coffee, food and marketing. Her stated priorities bring together the development of relevant products and the experiences through which customers encounter the brand.
That emphasis gives the appointment a specific consumer focus. Rather than treating India as a single audience, her description recognises the variety of tastes and expectations the business serves. Her focus on authentic stories also connects brand communication with what customers experience in a coffeehouse.
Her move from head to director keeps product and marketing together in her title. That combination is relevant to a consumer business in which menu choices, seasonal launches and service experiences all contribute to how the brand is understood.
Career across beverage marketing and agency work
Before joining Tata Starbucks, Maheshwari was head of brand marketing at Red Bull India from July 2022 to April 2024. She previously held the national brand manager position between August 2020 and June 2022, according to Indian Television’s account of her career.
Her earlier experience includes a senior account executive role at DDB Mudra Group from September 2012 to March 2014. The progression spans agency account work and beverage brand management before her move into the combined product and marketing role at Tata Starbucks.

Tata Starbucks combines coffee craft with local relevance
Tata Starbucks is the 50:50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Consumer Products. It entered India in October 2012. Its product and marketing activity provides useful context for Maheshwari’s stated interest in serving different consumer needs.
Tata Consumer Products’ FY2025-26 annual report records initiatives including Blonde Espresso Roast, zero-added-sugar flavour options and Protein Cold Foam developed with SuperYou. The same report describes the Aamar Pujo, Aamar Starbucks programme, which used a festive menu inspired by regional flavours and traditions to engage customers in eastern India.
These are company initiatives rather than achievements attributed individually to Maheshwari. They illustrate the mix of beverage personalisation, product partnerships and local occasions within the business she serves.
Coffee provenance supplies another part of that mix. In October 2025, Tata Starbucks introduced estate-exclusive Indian single-origin whole bean coffees from Karadibetta, Margolly and Nullore in Coorg, Karnataka. The range connected individual coffees with their growing regions and used packaging illustrations drawn from the estates’ wildlife and ecosystems.
Beyond the menu, Starbucks and Tata Starbucks announced a Farmer Support Partnership in November 2025, with an ambition to support 10,000 Indian coffee farmers by 2030. That programme adds a longer-term agricultural dimension to the company’s coffee proposition.
Why the promotion matters for product-led marketing
For marketing leaders, the appointment puts attention on a role that connects what a retailer offers with how it communicates. A regional festive menu, a customisable drink and an estate-specific coffee each give customers a different reason to engage with the same brand.
Read alongside those company examples, Maheshwari’s stated priorities suggest continuity in that connection between product relevance and brand experience. The business significance will lie in how those priorities translate into future launches and customer engagement, rather than in the seniority of the title alone.
