IHCL reaches 670-hotel portfolio after 47 first-half signings
IHCL signed 47 hotels and opened 20 in H1 FY2027, taking its combined operating and development portfolio to 670 properties.

Indian Hotels Company has reached a combined 670-hotel portfolio of operating and development properties after signing 47 properties and opening 20 during the first half of FY2027.
The group reported 390 operating hotels and a pipeline of 280 properties across 15 countries and more than 300 locations.
Inside IHCL’s 670-hotel portfolio
Suma Venkatesh, executive vice president for real estate and development, said IHCL remained on course to reach its Accelerate 2030 target of 700 hotels ahead of schedule. Its expansion combines owned and leased assets with management-led growth.
First-half agreements included four Taj hotels, one Brij property and one Atmantan development. Ginger and Tree of Life together accounted for 19 signings.
Openings strengthened IHCL’s presence in Mumbai, Gurugram, Goa and Hyderabad, while adding destinations including Kandla, Ayodhya, Tadoba, Kota, Bokaro and Jorhat. Taj also extended its reach through openings in Frankfurt and the Kruger region of South Africa.
Operating structure alongside expansion
Ginger offers a closer view of how that expansion is developing. On 7 October, IHCL reported 100 operating Ginger hotels within a 250-property portfolio. Another 95 were under development, while 55 were undergoing brand migration, with rebranding scheduled for completion by 31 March 2027.
The distinction matters operationally: opening new hotels and converting existing properties require different transition and training plans.
The larger portfolio also follows changes to IHCL’s management structure. In August, the group organised delivery around Traditional Businesses and Growth Businesses. Gaurav Pokhariyal became chief operating officer for Traditional Businesses, overseeing operations across geographies, while Prabhat Verma became chief people officer with responsibility for human resources, sustainability and business excellence.
In September, IHCL placed Ginger, Tree of Life, amã Stays & Trails and Qmin within its Select Service Business organisation, led by executive vice president Deepika Rao.
Together, these changes provide context for the latest hotel total: the group is adjusting leadership responsibilities alongside its expansion across different accommodation formats. For operating teams, the challenge is translating signed inventory into openings and consistent service delivery.
