IHCL’s lean luxe brand becomes the first hotel brand in India with 100 hotels in operation, with a total portfolio of 250 including those under development.
The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced that Ginger, its lean luxe brand in the midscale segment, has reached 100 operating hotels in India. IHCL describes Ginger as the first brand in India to have 100 hotels in operation.
Ginger’s total portfolio stands at 250 hotels, including 95 under development, according to IHCL. A further 55 hotels are undergoing brand migration, which the company expects to complete by 31 March 2027.
Airport hotels in the pipeline
IHCL highlighted several large airport projects in the brand’s expansion. These include a 325-key Ginger at Bengaluru International Airport, a 300-key hotel at Manohar International Airport in Goa, a property of more than 200 keys at Mumbai’s Terminal 2 and a 200-key hotel at Kolkata Airport.
The brand pairs its hotels with Qmin, an all-day diner and workspace format. Recent openings include Ginger’s 118-key debut in Hyderabad.
100 operating hotels and Accelerate 2030
Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President, Select Service Business, IHCL, said: “Reaching the milestone of 100 operating Ginger hotels is a significant moment in the brand’s journey towards achieving its Accelerate 2030 goals.”
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President, Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said: “With its scalable model, high-margin profile and ability to penetrate markets wide and deep, Ginger continues to serve as a key growth engine for IHCL, expanding through a combination of operating leases, selective investments and strategic partnerships across India.”
IHCL’s wider portfolio stands at 660 hotels, including 274 in the pipeline, across four continents, 15 countries and more than 300 locations. The group recently brought Taj to continental Europe with Taj Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt.
Why it matters
Ginger gives IHCL scale in India’s midscale segment through a model built largely on leases and partnerships. With 95 hotels under development and 55 migrating to the brand, and large airport hotels among them, the next phase extends Ginger further into transit-led demand alongside its city locations.
