Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA has appointed Sylvain Lagier as Vice President of Operations, giving him responsibility for a portfolio of more than 25 hotels across the UK. The former Brightstar Hospitality executive will oversee more than 25 managed hotels across Aimbridge’s Region 3 portfolio in the UK.
Lagier will oversee Aimbridge’s Region 3 properties, which operate under several international hotel brands, including Mercure and Radisson. His remit will cover operational performance, commercial delivery, guest experience, team development and the returns generated for hotel owners.
He joins Aimbridge from Brightstar Hospitality, where he served as Group Operations Director and led the company’s UK hotel portfolio.
At Brightstar, Lagier was responsible for both operational and commercial strategy across a collection of trading hotels. His role required him to balance guest experience with financial performance, budget delivery and owner expectations.
That combination is directly relevant to Aimbridge’s third-party management model. Unlike a hotel brand primarily concerned with standards and distribution, a management company must translate those systems into measurable property-level results while remaining accountable to individual owners.
Lagier brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience to the position. He began his career as an assistant financial controller at Hotel New York in Disneyland Paris before progressing into management and leadership roles with Accor and Atlas Hotels.
Beginning in hotel finance before moving into operations gives him a useful perspective on the relationship between everyday operating decisions and asset performance. Labour deployment, pricing, service delivery, procurement and maintenance may be managed separately within a hotel, but their combined effect is ultimately visible in the property’s financial results.
That understanding becomes more important when overseeing a multi-hotel portfolio. The challenge is not simply to replicate the same operating model across every property. Each hotel has its own market conditions, ownership priorities, brand requirements and management team.
The regional operations function therefore acts as the connection between Aimbridge’s central expertise and the general managers responsible for individual hotels. It must identify where consistency creates value while allowing properties sufficient flexibility to respond to their local markets.
Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA currently represents a portfolio of approximately 15,000 rooms across the UK, Ireland and continental Europe. Its managed properties range from select-service and extended-stay hotels to full-service, resort and luxury operations.
The wider portfolio includes hotels affiliated with Accor, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott and Radisson, alongside independent properties. This breadth makes multi-brand operating experience particularly valuable within its senior team.
David Anderson, President of Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA, said Lagier’s operational, commercial and leadership background would support the company’s efforts to improve performance, strengthen hotel teams and advance its long-term growth objectives.
Lagier, meanwhile, said he intends to work closely with colleagues across the business to build on the existing performance of the portfolio and support its continued expansion.
The appointment comes with a substantial operational mandate. More than 25 hotels create considerable variation in property type, market position and owner priorities. Success will depend on whether Lagier can turn portfolio-level strategy into consistent execution without losing sight of the individual conditions affecting each hotel.
His experience leading trading properties and working across internationally recognised brands provides a strong foundation. The eventual measure of the appointment, however, will be visible at hotel level through budget delivery, team stability, guest performance and sustained owner confidence.
