The Gant Aspen plans March 2027 closure for resort renovation
The resort remains open ahead of work on its exteriors, shared spaces and grounds, with its current project page pointing to a summer 2028 reopening.

The Gant Aspen is preparing for a temporary closure in late March 2027 as it undertakes an approximately $63.5 million renovation focused on wildfire resilience, building infrastructure and shared guest spaces.
The resort’s current project page says it will remain fully operational through 29 March 2027 and reopen in summer 2028. This is a forward-looking update on a project first announced in June, rather than a newly disclosed investment.
Fire resilience shapes The Gant Aspen renovation
In its 4 June announcement, the resort outlined fire-resistant building materials, replacement roofing, improved lighting and railings, and landscape changes incorporating defensible-space practices.
The investment responds to increased wildfire risk and changing safety requirements in mountain settings. The resort also identified infrastructure resilience and insurability as reasons for proceeding, linking the work to the long-term viability of the property.
The main programme concerns exteriors and communal areas. Separate interior refreshes are planned for reception, conference facilities and other shared guest spaces. The announcement does not describe a comprehensive renovation of every privately owned condominium.
Outdoor spaces and reopening plans
The current project page highlights renewed pool and lawn areas, outdoor gathering spaces and a standing-seam metal roof. Published project imagery includes proposals for an alpine garden, an updated arrival experience, pool areas and a central garden.
Those visuals are artist’s renderings, not photographs of completed improvements. The resort cautions that final materials, designs and details may change.
The June release anticipated a soft reopening in June 2028 and a grand reopening in July. The current website uses the broader summer 2028 timeframe, so the month-by-month schedule remains a plan rather than a confirmed operating commitment.
CCY Architects developed the original architectural concepts, with Design Workshop responsible for landscape design, OPI Architects serving as the working architectural firm and Harvey Cleary named as general contractor.
For guests and event planners, the immediate distinction is that the resort remains open before the renovation period. The published closure and reopening timetable should be checked against the resort’s latest guidance when arranging future stays.
