Cheval Blanc Pitrizza targets its next chapter

Hotel Pitrizza on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda is targeting a May 2027 relaunch as Cheval Blanc Pitrizza, according to reporting published by Traveler on 19 October 2026. The planned rebranding would introduce the Cheval Blanc name to an established coastal hotel rather than create an entirely new property.

The timetable should be treated as a reported target, not a guaranteed opening date. La Revue des Hôtels reported on 18 October that the project had moved beyond an earlier 2026 expectation and noted that no LVMH statement fixing the new date had been issued at the time.

A 65-key hotel with an established identity

The hotel’s current official website continues to market the property as Hotel Pitrizza. It confirms 49 rooms and suites and 16 villas, many with private pools. Architect Luigi Vietti designed the hotel in 1963, using low-rise buildings within the Costa Smeralda landscape.

The existing offer includes a private beach, a granite saltwater pool, The Grill restaurant, Bar Pitrizza and wellness facilities. Porto Cervo is approximately five kilometres away. These are features of the operating hotel, not a confirmed specification for the completed Cheval Blanc transformation.

Management transition and preparations

The project is not a newly announced management takeover. Cheval Blanc’s official careers page states that LVMH Hotel Management took over Hotel Pitrizza on 1 January 2024.

There is also evidence of preparations for the next operating season. An LVMH head butler vacancy published on 29 September 2026 describes responsibility for coordinating service across the property’s 16 villas, including liaison with housekeeping, room service and concierge teams. A recruitment listing supports the presence of operating preparations; it does not independently confirm the relaunch date.

The service challenge behind a luxury rebrand

For hotel leaders, the meaningful question extends beyond when a new sign appears. Repositioning an existing property involves aligning an established physical setting with the service expectations attached to a different luxury brand.

At Pitrizza, the mix of rooms, suites and private villas makes coordination across departments particularly relevant. Preserving the property’s local identity while delivering consistent service will be an operating consideration as the project progresses. The reported May timetable remains the planning reference, subject to confirmation from the brand.
