Albin Chavy has joined Rosewood Hotel Group as Global Director, Operational Planning, based at its Hong Kong headquarters. He confirmed the move in a LinkedIn announcement, describing a new chapter at the group’s headquarters. La Tribune de l’Hôtellerie dates the appointment to October 2026.

He arrives from Compass Group, where his Asia-Pacific work combined food and beverage design with operational performance. The new role places that experience within a group spanning luxury hotels, wellness and private members’ clubs.

Albin Chavy connects development with operational needs

The reported remit centres on operational planning for hotel projects, linking architectural and technical decisions with the requirements of the teams that will run the properties. No individual project allocation or reporting line has been announced in the material reviewed.

For hotel operators, this work begins before recruitment and opening preparations. The practical questions include whether employees can move efficiently between work areas, whether service facilities support the intended offer, and whether a building can accommodate its daily operating routines.

A background in foodservice design and performance

La Tribune reports that Chavy spent more than seven years at Compass Group, most recently as Regional Director, Business Excellence for Asia Pacific. His preceding responsibilities included regional food and beverage design.

Independent industry-event material supports the link between his commercial and technical experience. Food & Hospitality Asia’s 2026 programme lists him in business excellence at Compass Group Asia, with a biography describing responsibility for foodservice operations serving a major technology company.

The Foodservice Consultants Society International also featured Chavy at its Circle 2025 conference in Hoi An, identifying his strategic-projects role at Compass. Earlier biographical material from MTD Hospitality Consulting describes his French foodservice training and consulting work involving kitchens and hospitality facilities in Africa, the Middle East and Australia.

That career history combines an understanding of how facilities are designed with experience of how they perform in use. It is relevant to a planning role where operational requirements must be understood early enough to influence the finished building.

A group with distinct hospitality formats

Rosewood Hotel Group’s brands include Rosewood, New World Hotels & Resorts, the Asaya wellbeing concept and Carlyle & Co. Their different formats mean that a single approach to service space or guest movement will not suit every property.

The Rosewood brand’s October 2025 strategy update emphasised personalised experiences and closer connections with each destination. It also linked accommodation with dining, wellness, retail and other experiences across the guest journey.

For the teams designing and operating such spaces, the task is to accommodate that variety while maintaining workable service arrangements. A distinctive guest-facing concept still needs appropriate storage, preparation, maintenance and employee facilities behind it.

Why the planning role matters to hotel teams

Operational decisions made during development can remain part of an employee’s working environment for years. Bringing the operating perspective into planning gives hotel teams an opportunity to identify practical constraints before they become permanent features of the property.

Chavy’s appointment adds experience at that interface. The useful measure of the role will be how effectively development ambitions and everyday service requirements are brought together as projects progress.
