Auberge Collection has promoted Evan L. Altman to Senior Vice President of Operations, expanding his leadership mandate across the luxury hospitality group as it continues to grow its portfolio of one-of-a-kind hotels, resorts, safaris, residences and private clubs.

In his new role, Altman will oversee global hotel operations, working closely with Auberge’s property teams to elevate the guest experience, strengthen operational excellence and support the continued growth of the collection. The promotion follows Altman’s appointment to Auberge in 2021 as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, a role in which he was responsible for global sales and marketing, revenue management and digital marketing across all regions.

Altman’s move into operations marks a significant broadening of responsibility. Since joining Auberge, he has worked across the commercial side of the business at a time when the company has been sharpening its position in the upper tier of experiential luxury hospitality. His new role places him closer to the operational layer of the portfolio, where brand promise, guest experience, property leadership and service consistency are ultimately delivered.

Auberge said Altman has made a meaningful impact across the organisation since joining in 2021. The company said he will now partner closely with property teams as it continues to build operational strength across its growing portfolio.

Altman joined Auberge after an extensive hospitality career spanning more than 25 years. Prior to Auberge, he held senior leadership roles at Highgate Hotels, where he served as Senior Vice President and oversaw the restructuring of the company’s lifestyle and luxury divisions. He previously held senior positions with Sydell Group, where he worked on the expansion of the NoMad Hotel brand, and earlier served as Managing Director of The Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn. He was also General Manager of both Standard Hotel properties in New York City.

That background is relevant to the new operations mandate. Auberge’s model is not built around standardisation in the same way as a conventional hotel brand. Its properties are expected to remain deeply individual while still delivering a consistent level of luxury, service discipline and emotional connection. For an operations leader, that creates a more complex challenge than simply applying one operating playbook across multiple locations.

The company’s portfolio includes hotels, resorts, safaris, residences and private clubs across multiple markets, with each property designed around its setting, architecture, cuisine, wellbeing and local culture. Auberge has described its approach as one rooted in place, design and gracious but unobtrusive service. As the collection grows, maintaining that balance between individuality and operational consistency becomes increasingly important.

The promotion also comes during a period of continued expansion for Auberge. The company lists several properties in its development pipeline, including Cambridge House in London, The Knox Hotel & Residences in Dallas, Shore Club in Miami Beach, Shell Bay Club and Resort in Florida, The Birdsall in Houston, Moncayo in Puerto Rico and The Stockman in Steamboat Springs. Auberge has also expanded into the safari segment, bringing a group of camps and lodges in Tanzania under the Auberge Safari platform.

For luxury hospitality groups, this kind of growth places significant pressure on operations. New openings require more than brand visibility and design credentials. They require leadership teams, service systems, training standards, pre-opening discipline, owner alignment and the ability to translate a brand’s philosophy into daily practice. The more distinctive the properties, the more important the operating framework becomes.

Altman’s commercial background may prove especially useful in this context. Sales, marketing, revenue management and digital strategy shape how a property is positioned and sold, but operations determines whether the experience matches that promise. Leaders who understand both sides of the business are increasingly valuable in luxury hospitality, where guest expectations are shaped long before arrival and judged in detail throughout the stay.

Auberge’s continued growth also reflects broader demand for experience-led luxury. Travellers at the top end of the market are increasingly seeking properties that feel specific to their destination rather than interchangeable. This has created opportunities for hotel groups with distinctive assets, but it also raises the operational bar. Guests expect personalisation, strong design, meaningful food and beverage, wellbeing, privacy, cultural connection and service that feels intuitive rather than scripted.

In that environment, operations becomes a strategic function rather than a back-of-house discipline. It determines whether a hotel can protect individuality while still running with the reliability expected of a global luxury collection. It also shapes team culture, guest satisfaction, owner confidence and long-term performance.

Altman’s appointment signals Auberge’s intention to strengthen that operating layer as it enters its next phase of growth. Having joined the company through a commercial leadership role and now moving into global hotel operations, he brings a perspective that connects brand demand, revenue opportunity and property-level delivery.

For Auberge, the promotion is less a departure from Altman’s previous role than an expansion of his influence across the organisation. As the company continues to add new destinations and deepen its position in experiential luxury, the ability to align commercial ambition with operational execution will be central to the collection’s next chapter.
