Minor Hotels Australasia has appointed Anup Mathur to the newly created position of Account Director – India, underscoring the strategic importance of the Indian market for the hospitality group’s operations across Australia and New Zealand.

Mathur brings more than 17 years of experience in hospitality sales, having built his career with globally recognised brands including Marriott and Accor. He most recently served as Account Director, Global Sales at Marriott, where he managed key international accounts and delivered sustained revenue growth across multiple markets.

Based in Bengaluru, Mathur will work closely with Minor Hotels’ portfolio of properties across Australasia, with a primary focus on sourcing new business opportunities whilst strengthening existing partnerships within the Indian market. His responsibilities will encompass building strategic relationships with Indian travel agents, tour operators and corporate clients, as well as identifying growth opportunities across the region.

Daniel Csortan, Head of Commercial at Minor Hotels Australasia, commented on the appointment: “The creation of the Account Director – India role reflects the accelerating growth and long-term potential of the Indian market for our business. India continues to be a key source market for travel into Australia and New Zealand, and establishing a dedicated leadership role allows us to deepen relationships, better serve our partners, and unlock new opportunities across the region. We are delighted to welcome Anup to Minor Hotels and are confident his experience and market insight will be invaluable.”

The appointment comes at a significant moment for Indian outbound tourism. India remains one of the fastest-growing outbound travel markets globally, with arrivals to Australia reaching a record 455,000 in the first nine months of 2025 – representing a six per cent year-on-year increase. Indian visitors contributed over 29.5 million visitor nights and AUD 2.7 billion in spending during the same period, reinforcing the market’s importance for Australian tourism.

Minor Hotels operates a diverse portfolio of properties across Australasia under brands including Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites, Avani and NH Collection. The group has been expanding its regional footprint, with recent additions including properties in Victoria and Queensland, alongside plans to debut NH Collection and NH Hotels in Sydney in 2026. The Oaks brand, which Minor Hotels acquired in 2011, now encompasses more than 60 properties primarily across Australia and New Zealand.

Globally, Minor Hotels owns, manages and operates over 560 hotels, resorts and branded residences across 57 countries. The Bangkok-headquartered group’s portfolio spans eight hotel brands – Anantara, Avani, Elewana Collection, NH, NH Collection, nhow, Oaks and Tivoli – offering accommodation ranging from luxury resorts to serviced apartments.
