Edie Rodriguez has been appointed chief executive officer of Transcend Cruises and joined its board of directors, succeeding interim chief executive Gregg Marston at the charter-only European river cruise company.

The appointment was reported on 22 October 2026 by Cruise Industry News, citing a company statement. Marston will remain on the board, while the rest of the executive leadership team will continue in their roles.

Edie Rodriguez takes responsibility for strategy and growth

Rodriguez’s remit covers the company’s strategic direction, brand development and expansion. Transcend serves corporate, association and affinity groups, placing its commercial emphasis on charter clients rather than individual holidaymakers booking a conventional river cruise.

The company has linked the appointment to its ambition to develop immersive experiences while building a profitable business. In her comments on joining, Rodriguez highlighted opportunities in the charter and meetings market and the importance of the experience both aboard the vessel and in the destinations it visits.

Keeping Marston on the board provides continuity through the leadership change. The announcement does not set out a wider management restructuring.

A career spanning luxury cruising and tourism

Rodriguez previously served as president and chief executive of Crystal Cruises, including its river and yacht expedition businesses, and as Americas brand chairman at Ponant. Her earlier career included senior marketing, sales and business development responsibilities at Azamara, Cunard and Seabourn.

Her experience extends beyond cruise operations. She has advised Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Blackstone, and served on the Saudi Tourism Authority’s board, including chairing its nominating and remuneration committee.

That combination brings commercial brand experience alongside exposure to investment and tourism governance. For a business selling a tailored group product, the relevant challenge is connecting the promise made to a charter organiser with the service delivered to everyone travelling.

A purpose-built platform for the group market

Transcend’s operating proposition is based on full-ship charters with flexible spaces. Its official specifications describe 60 staterooms that can be combined in pairs to create suites, allowing the accommodation configuration to change with a client’s requirements.

The ships’ venues include the Forum, a two-storey presentation and performance space, alongside meeting, dining and social areas. The company’s charter model gives organisers scope to tailor itineraries, menus and onboard programmes, with dedicated sales, account-management and shipboard support.

Fleet development adds another dimension to the new chief executive’s brief. In March 2026, Transcend announced an agreement with Den Breejen Shipyard for two further vessels, Create and Engage, with delivery planned for October 2027 and the first quarter of 2028 respectively. Those additions are intended to bring the fleet to four ships.

Why the leadership role matters

For hospitality teams, a charter-led model puts particular weight on coordination before guests arrive. A corporate meeting, an association programme and a private celebration can use the same ship in different ways, requiring the commercial brief, food and beverage service and event delivery to remain aligned.

Rodriguez’s task is therefore to develop the business while preserving the flexibility that distinguishes its product. The continuing executive team and Marston’s board role give that work an element of continuity as the fleet programme advances.
