Millennium Hotels and Resorts has appointed Karl Wood as Global HR Director, Policies and Practices, effective 19 January 2026, as global hotel groups continue to navigate increasingly complex regulatory and workforce environments. Wood will report to Yvonne Oo, Senior Vice President, Global HR.
In this newly created role, Wood will lead the development, stewardship and ongoing management of people policies and practices across the Group’s global operations. He will work with regional HR leaders and key functional stakeholders to support consistency and clarity in policy application across markets.
Wood has nearly 30 years of international people and culture leadership experience across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Asia Pacific. His career has been shaped within large, complex hospitality organisations, where aligning global policy frameworks with local operational realities is a constant challenge.
Prior to rejoining Millennium Hotels and Resorts, where he previously held senior HR leadership positions, Wood held leadership roles with international hospitality brands including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises, rebranded as Belmond.
In his new role, Wood will support the stewardship and ongoing management of people policies and practices across the group, ensuring alignment with Millennium’s values, standards and operational requirements. He will work closely with regional HR leaders and key stakeholders to provide guidance and consistency in policy application across all regions.
Wood holds an Executive MBA and is a Chartered Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and a Member of the Institute of Hospitality.
