citizenM Georgetown launch marks Marriott partnership milestone

Another Star has marked the opening of citizenM Washington DC Georgetown with a launch celebration bringing together Marriott International, local media and the teams behind the hotel. The property is the first citizenM to open since the brand joined Marriott, making the Georgetown launch an early milestone for the partnership.

In an update shared on 13 October, Another Star said the event had taken place a few weeks earlier. The announcement revisits the hotel’s launch rather than setting a new opening date: Marriott’s original property announcement was issued in June 2026.

A Georgetown launch shaped by its neighbourhood

The celebration adopted a college-inspired theme, The Inaugural Class of Sleep, reflecting Georgetown’s university connections. Creative agency Verve developed the concept, which included a pillow-filled photo booth, a merchandise shop styled around a college bookshop and a performance by local band Hathway.

W Communications supported the event’s publicity and guest outreach. Another Star said its teams and Marriott colleagues worked across countries and time zones with the creative and PR partners, while hotel ambassadors hosted attendees.

Inside citizenM Washington DC Georgetown

The 230-room property at 3401 K Street is citizenM’s third hotel in Washington, DC. Designed by Concrete Amsterdam, it is close to the Georgetown waterfront, the C&O Canal and Georgetown University.

Its public spaces include the brand’s living-room-style lobby, canteenM for round-the-clock food and drinks, and a 24-hour gym. Artwork includes a commissioned mural by Washington-based artist J.D. Deardourff.

Rooms follow citizenM’s compact, technology-led format, with wall-to-wall king-size beds and tablet controls for lighting, blinds and temperature. Guests can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points on citizenM stays.

An operating partnership behind the brand

Marriott completed its acquisition of the citizenM brand in July 2025. Another Star continues to own and operate citizenM hotels in Europe and the United States under a long-term franchise agreement, while Marriott provides the brand’s distribution and loyalty platform.

The Georgetown launch offers an early example of that partnership at work, with Another Star’s operational teams, Marriott colleagues and external creative agencies working together around a property opening.
