Accor has appointed Rob McIntyre as Vice President Operations for New Zealand & Fiji, effective 13 April 2026. McIntyre, a New Zealander returning home to lead one of the group’s most active regional portfolios, brings extensive operational experience across Accor’s Asia-Pacific network and a long history of senior leadership in the New Zealand market.
McIntyre’s career with Accor spans over a decade of progressively senior roles across New Zealand and Southeast Asia. He served as General Manager of the Pullman Auckland, one of the city’s leading full-service hotels, before moving to lead the Grand Mercure as Area General Manager for Accor New Zealand. He subsequently took on the General Manager role at Christchurch Convention Centre, a complex, large-scale operation at the heart of the South Island’s regeneration. In 2018, McIntyre relocated to Singapore, where he served as General Manager of Sales and Marketing for two of the city-state’s most prominent Accor properties – Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford. From November 2021 he led Pullman Singapore Orchard as General Manager, overseeing the property through a period of post-pandemic recovery and repositioning.
Throughout his time in Singapore, McIntyre maintained close ties with the New Zealand business community, serving on the Executive Board of the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce Singapore. Earlier in his career, he held the position of Regional Chairperson for the Hotel Sector at the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand and sat on the Executive Advisory Board for the Accommodation Sector at Hospitality New Zealand – roles that reflect a broader commitment to industry development beyond the hotel floor.
Accor is New Zealand’s largest hotel operator, running 49 hotels with more than 6,200 rooms nationwide across a portfolio that spans Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Peppers, The Sebel, Mantra, TRIBE, JO&JOE and ibis brands. The group’s New Zealand footprint is expanding further in 2026, with the 191-key Pullman Hamilton – developed by Mistry Centre Ltd – set to open and extend Accor’s premium presence in the Waikato region. The February 2026 opening of the New Zealand International Convention Centre in Auckland is also expected to generate a significant boost in demand for accommodation across the city, strengthening the performance case for Accor’s Auckland properties.
In Fiji, where Accor operates properties including the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa on Denarau Island, Mercure Nadi and Novotel Suva Lami Bay, the market has demonstrated sustained strength following post-pandemic recovery, with Australian arrivals continuing to drive leisure demand.
McIntyre’s appointment follows a period of deliberate portfolio growth and brand diversification by Accor across the region. “Rob’s appointment reflects our long-term confidence in New Zealand and Fiji, and our commitment to strong, on-the-ground leadership to support continued growth, performance and owner partnerships across the region,” said Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Accor in the Pacific. McIntyre’s familiarity with Accor’s brand architecture, owner relationships and market dynamics across both territories positions him to step directly into the operational and commercial challenges the role demands.
For McIntyre, the role marks both a professional milestone and a personal return. “I’m thrilled to be returning home to New Zealand and to be stepping into this role at such an exciting time for Accor,” he said. “New Zealand and Fiji are markets I know and love, and I’m looking forward to working closely with our teams and owners to build on the strong momentum, deliver exceptional guest experiences and continue growing our diverse portfolio across the region.”
