Grand Hyatt Mumbai has appointed Prasad Prabhu as Learning and Development Manager, strengthening the property’s commitment to cultivating leadership excellence and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Prabhu brings 18 years of diverse hospitality experience across leading global hotel brands, with expertise spanning leadership development, colleague engagement, and service culture enhancement. His appointment underscores the hotel’s strategic focus on talent development as a foundation for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

In his new role, Prabhu will drive the hotel’s learning and development strategy with particular emphasis on strengthening leadership pipelines, embedding Hyatt’s core values into daily operations, and aligning training initiatives with business objectives. He will collaborate closely with department heads to enhance colleague capabilities and support career progression pathways throughout the organisation.

Before joining Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Prabhu served as Learning Manager at Grand Hyatt Goa, where he led property-level learning systems whilst contributing as ASPAC Master Trainer for Hyatt Hotels Corporation. In this regional capacity, he designed and facilitated leadership and trainer capability workshops across the Asia Pacific region, supporting Hyatt’s mission to cultivate future-ready hospitality professionals.

Prabhu’s extensive career includes learning and development roles at several prominent hospitality chains. His experience spans The Indian Hotels Company Limited (Taj Hotels), InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), The Leela Kempinski, and The Zuri Hospitality Group. This diverse exposure across multiple international brands has equipped him with comprehensive insights into varied operational approaches and service cultures.

Prabhu holds a PGDBA in General Management from the Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai, alongside a B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration from the Institute of Hotel Management, Goa. He also completed a Food Production Craft Course certification at the Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai, providing him with foundational understanding of hotel operations.

Grand Hyatt Mumbai operates as one of India’s most iconic luxury hotels, spread across 12 acres of greenery in the Santacruz area. The property features 548 rooms and 110 serviced apartments, including 39 suites ranging from 40 to 218 square metres. Designed by Chicago’s Lohan Associates, the hotel opened in 2004 as a lifestyle complex blending luxury accommodation with contemporary dining, entertainment, and recreational facilities.

The hotel’s location provides strategic access to Mumbai’s business hubs, positioned near the Bandra Kurla Complex and within 10 minutes of both the domestic and international airports. The property offers over 30,000 square feet of conference and meeting space, alongside four speciality restaurants serving Indian and international cuisines.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation currently operates 52 hotels across Southwest Asia, including 50 properties in India and two in Nepal, spanning nine distinct brands. The company has surpassed 10,000 keys in the region and aims to reach 100 hotels in India within the next five years as part of its ambitious expansion strategy.

Grand Hyatt Mumbai positions itself as one of Hyatt’s flagship properties in India, emphasising colleague development as a core organisational focus. The property has received recognition for its workplace culture initiatives and commitment to creating environments where professional development and personal growth coexist.

Prabhu’s vision emphasises creating a workplace where learning transcends functional requirements to become embedded in organisational culture. He believes that when colleagues feel respected, supported, and motivated to grow, they naturally deliver superior guest experiences. His appointment comes at a time when the hospitality sector increasingly prioritises leadership resilience and talent sustainability.

The Learning and Development Manager role places Prabhu at the centre of the hotel’s people strategy, responsible for identifying training needs, nurturing leadership potential, and fostering a workplace culture built on respect, care, and innovation. His work will contribute to creating a highly motivated workforce capable of meeting evolving guest expectations whilst maintaining consistent service standards.

Under Prabhu’s leadership, Grand Hyatt Mumbai is expected to further strengthen its reputation for training excellence and operational quality, reinforcing the hotel’s position amongst India’s most admired luxury hospitality destinations. His appointment aligns with Hyatt’s global values of empathy, inclusivity, and excellence, whilst addressing the specific development needs of the Mumbai property.
