Anantara Siniya Island breaks ground for 2030 opening
Anantara Siniya Island Resort and 125 branded residences are scheduled to open in Umm Al Quwain in 2030, following a partnership with Sobha Al Siniya FZC.

Anantara Siniya Island Resort has broken ground in Umm Al Quwain, with a 125-key hotel and 125 branded residences scheduled to open in 2030. The development will introduce Anantara Hotels & Resorts to the emirate.
Minor Hotels and Sobha Realty set out the plans in announcements dated 6 October 2026. The Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, attended the ceremony on the island.
Anantara Siniya Island: the resort and residences
The homes will be known as Anantara Residences Sobha Siniya Island. Minor Hotels says the resort will become the principal hospitality component of the wider waterfront development, drawing its design and guest experience from the island’s landscape, heritage and coastal setting.
The owner is Sobha Al Siniya FZC, the joint venture between Sobha Realty and Umm Al Quwain Properties, the government’s real estate investment arm. Minor Hotels is the hospitality partner.
What the partners said
William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International, said: “Sobha Siniya Island is a compelling new destination, and Anantara will play an integral role in its hospitality offering.”
Francis Alfred, Managing Director of Sobha Siniya Island, said the partnership brought together an emphasis on design, distinctive experiences and quality. He described the groundbreaking as a further step towards delivering the island’s vision.
A wider waterfront community
Sobha Realty’s announcement describes a development spanning approximately 23 million square feet, with apartments, villas, resorts and leisure facilities. More than 60% of the masterplan is allocated to water features, open spaces and greenery.
Sobha puts the destination around 50 minutes from Dubai, with a bridge approximately 1.7 kilometres long connecting it to the mainland. It says the island’s mangroves, beaches, wildlife and marine life will inform the resort’s design.
The developer’s earlier island partnership announcement placed preservation of natural habitats and archaeological sites among the project’s priorities. It also outlined proposed amenities including a family golf course, an ecopark, a community centre and separate areas for motorised and non-motorised water activities. These are elements of the wider island plan, rather than a confirmed list of facilities at the Anantara resort.
What comes next
For hospitality employers, a resort paired with branded homes raises practical questions about service standards, resident support and the skills required across both operations. Those are planning considerations for this type of development; the announcements do not provide staffing numbers or a recruitment timetable.
The partners have given 2030 as the scheduled opening year, without a specific opening date. Further details will be needed on the resort’s facilities and delivery milestones as construction progresses.
