The SENA Anaheim hotel is expected to open in 2029, bringing more than 300 rooms and Marriott’s Autograph Collection to the OCVIBE development around Honda Center.

OCVIBE unveiled the design on 15 October, with WATG responsible for architecture and landscape architecture. Sage Hospitality Group will operate the property.

SENA Anaheim hotel brings dining and operations together

Sage’s brief covers guestrooms, restaurants, bars, meetings and events, alongside connections with the district’s entertainment and cultural offer. The hotel’s project presentation sets out an operating model that extends beyond overnight accommodation.

Rockwell Group is designing the interiors, with spaces intended to change in atmosphere between daytime and evening. A restaurant from José Andrés will sit alongside the lobby bar as a central part of the social and dining offer. The restaurant is intended to attract visitors independently of a hotel stay.

The design draws on the Santa Ana River setting and Southern California’s changing natural light. SENA is planned as Anaheim’s first Autograph Collection hotel, combining its own identity with access to Marriott Bonvoy.

A phased development around Honda Center

The 100-acre district is planned to include housing, offices, dining, entertainment and public spaces. Its first phase, including a concert hall, market hall and office space, is expected to open in 2027, two years ahead of the hotel’s anticipated debut.

According to OCVIBE’s project timeline, the area already benefits from the ARTIC transport hub and the Santa Ana River Trail. Two new multi-level parking garages have also been added around Honda Center to support access to the venue.

For the hotel’s eventual operating team, that phased opening should provide an opportunity to observe the district’s visitor patterns before welcoming overnight guests. The key operational question will be how accommodation, dining and events serve those different audiences consistently.
