The former J.K. Place Roma general manager takes charge of commercial strategy at the Rome-based luxury hotel group, weeks after Simone Giorgi was named chief executive.
Shedir Collection has appointed Maria Strati as Chief Commercial Officer. She took up the role at the start of October 2026 and works closely with Chief Executive Officer Simone Giorgi and the wider leadership team.
Scope of the role
Strati will lead commercial strategy across the group, covering international business development and strategic partnerships in key luxury travel markets.
According to La Tribune de l’Hôtellerie, her brief is to support Shedir’s development by drawing on the strength and identity of its portfolio, creating new opportunities and reinforcing its commercial vision. In announcing the move, Strati described joining the group at an important moment in its evolution.
Strati’s career background
Strati joins from J.K. Place, where she was general manager of J.K. Place Roma from October 2020 until July 2026. From February 2025 she also oversaw the opening and initial operations of Casa J.K. Place Roma. Before that, she led J.K. Place Capri as general manager for the 2020 season.
Her earlier career was in Greece. She was general manager of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel on Spetses from 2015 to 2020, and previously ran Aqua Blu Boutique Hotel + Spa on Kos.
A new leadership team at Shedir
The appointment follows Shedir’s announcement in September that Giorgi had joined as CEO and Executive Asset Manager. Giorgi brings more than 30 years in international luxury hospitality, including general manager roles at Il Salviatino, Villa Cora and J.K. Place Capri, leadership of Park Hyatt Milano and, most recently, Orient Express La Minerva in Rome, according to eHotelier.
Shedir Collection is led by founder Eduardo Safdie with partners Dario Di Domenico and Gianluca De Micheli. Its portfolio of small luxury hotels includes Hotel Vilòn, Maalot, Umiltà 36 and Palazzo Roma in Rome, and Capri Tiberio Palace on Capri. The group has described consolidation, development and PropCo/OpCo structures as strategic priorities.
Rome’s luxury hotel market continues to attract new entrants, with international brands such as Kimpton planning a Via Veneto debut.
Why the role matters
With a new chief executive in place since September, Shedir now has a dedicated commercial lead for its Rome and Capri hotels. Strati brings recent experience running a luxury hotel in Rome and opening a second there, and her appointment completes a senior team focused on the group’s next stage of development.
