Evolution Hospitality has appointed Matthew Boettcher as Senior Vice President, Operations, reinforcing the leadership of Aimbridge Hospitality’s lifestyle-focused division as demand for boutique and soft-brand accommodation continues to accelerate.
Boettcher brings more than 25 years of experience across hospitality operations, brand strategy and food and beverage (F&B) development – much of it spent shaping some of Marriott International’s most prominent lifestyle and premium brands. In his new role, he will oversee operations across Evolution’s lifestyle, soft-brand and premium portfolio, with a mandate to drive improvements in property performance, owner returns and guest experience.
His appointment follows a career at Marriott that charted a distinctive course through both F&B and brand operations. Boettcher began in fine dining as a sommelier before transitioning into hotel operations and, over the course of two decades, progressing through a series of senior roles at Marriott International. He served as Vice President of Global Brand Operations for Lifestyle and Classic Select Brands – overseeing a collection that included Moxy, AC Hotels, Element and Aloft – before leading global brand operations for the Distinctive Select portfolio, which encompasses Autograph Collection and Tribute Portfolio.
In his most recent position, Boettcher held the title of Vice President and Category Leader, Premium and Endorsed Brands for the US and Canada at Marriott, directing strategic initiatives across a portfolio that included Westin, Renaissance, Le Méridien, Autograph Collection and Tribute Portfolio. The breadth of that brief – spanning lifestyle-led soft brands alongside full-service premium labels – positions him well to lead Evolution’s increasingly varied mandate.
“As lifestyle and soft brands remain one of the fastest-growing segments in hospitality, the expectations from both owners and guests have never been higher,” said Chris Tatum, President of the Full Service Division at Aimbridge and Evolution Hospitality. “Matthew brings the leadership, operational depth and F&B track record we need to meet and exceed those expectations as we further expand our position in the segment.”
Evolution Hospitality operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aimbridge Hospitality, the world’s largest third-party hotel management company, with a portfolio spanning more than 1,500 properties across 50 states and over 20 countries. Evolution itself manages close to 100 properties with more than 15,000 guestrooms, concentrating exclusively on independent boutique, lifestyle and soft-brand assets. The division operates its own in-house marketing agency, Second Wave, providing dedicated e-commerce, marketing and creative support for its portfolio – a differentiator that gives Evolution a more tailored commercial engine than is typically available to third-party-managed hotels.
Aimbridge has entered 2026 with a clear performance-first agenda following a period of significant restructuring that saw the company convert more than $1.1 billion in debt to equity and secure $100 million in new capital. That financial repositioning has enabled a sharper focus on operational quality and owner partnerships, with Boettcher’s appointment reflecting the company’s intention to strengthen its position in the lifestyle segment at a time when traveller appetite for distinctive, character-rich accommodation shows no sign of abating.
“The lifestyle and soft brand segments represent some of the most dynamic opportunities in hospitality,” Boettcher said. “Evolution has built a strong foundation of operational excellence and owner partnerships, and I look forward to working with this talented team and supporting our general managers and associates to create memorable experiences that meet modern travel demand.”
Boettcher’s combination of F&B credentials – rare at the SVP level in third-party hotel management – and a demonstrable track record of overseeing multi-brand portfolios at global scale aligns directly with Evolution’s ambition to elevate the dining and experiential programming that increasingly defines competitive lifestyle hospitality.
