Oberoi Sukoonvilas gives first look at its Wadi Safar resort
Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has unveiled The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, a 60-villa resort with 10 branded residences, set to open at Wadi Safar near Riyadh in early 2027.

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has released a first look at The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar, a luxury resort in Saudi Arabia due to open in the first quarter of 2027, according to the Oberoi announcement published by Hospitality Net.
The resort will be the first hotel in Wadi Safar, about 30 minutes from Riyadh and close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif in Diriyah. WINC Wire reported on the opening plans earlier; the new release adds detail on design, dining and wellness.
Oberoi Sukoonvilas: the site and the accommodation
The Oberoi Sukoonvilas sits on a 70-metre escarpment across more than 37 acres. The development comprises:
- 60 standalone villas
- 10 branded residences
- a 65-metre infinity pool overlooking Wadi Safar
The design is inspired by Najdi architecture. Aedas is the architect and Blink is responsible for the interiors.
Dining and wellness
Three restaurants are planned, alongside poolside dining:
- Yatra, serving contemporary Indian cuisine by Michelin-starred Chef Rohit Ghai
- Linnet, focused on pastries and café culture and led by pastry chef Lily Vanilli
- Beyla, offering international cuisine
Wellness will be delivered through the ASMI by Oberoi programme, with wellness journeys, hammams, indoor wellness pools and fitness facilities.
What the group said
Jerry Inzerillo, Group Chief Executive Officer of Diriyah Company, said: “The opening of The Oberoi Sukoonvilas will mark an important milestone for Wadi Safar as the first hotel to welcome guests.” He added that a strong sense of place aligns closely with the company’s vision for Wadi Safar.
Jeremy Canivet, General Manager of The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar, said “every experience has been carefully curated to immerse guests in the beauty and spirit of Wadi Safar.” Vikram Oberoi, Chief Executive Officer of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, described Wadi Safar as a rare opportunity to create a resort experience rooted in local history.
Context
The Oberoi Sukoonvilas adds to a wider pipeline for the group, which WINC Wire covered when Oberoi prepared its Mayfair debut. It also arrives as international operators continue to expand in the kingdom, a trend explored in our look at Saudi Arabia’s Hilton boom.
The announcement did not give rates, an exact opening date or booking details. Further updates are expected through Oberoi’s own channels.
